Municipality Portoferraio is confirmed (via the car park's address). Car park: 42.824809, 10.269247 (SP27, 57037 Portoferraio LI). We don't have the beach's own GPS or exact address yet — we'll add them rather than guess, so for now the beach is only linked via the car park on the map.
The beach
- Ground Shingle, fairly stony on both sides. We're inferring that water shoes make sense from the stony ground — a checked recommendation is still to come.
- Layout A headland lands on a small offshore rock islet. There's a beach on each side, with the islet in front.
- Shade Very different between the two sides: the left, campsite side, is sun-exposed, with little shade. The right, boat-club side, is very shady under bushes and trees. We haven't logged exact hours yet.
Wind
Wind rule: still open
Without confirmed coordinates we can't even run the geometric check we use elsewhere. The wind rose stays empty until both the location and an observation are in.
- All directions: not yet assessed
A visible gap beats a guessed figure.
Two beaches, two characters
Enfola is genuinely off the beaten path — and despite that, barely touristy, used mostly by Italians and guests of the campsite above. The campsite itself struck us as making a very good impression.
On the left, the campsite side: a stony beach, fairly hot and sun-exposed, well used. On the right, the boat-club side: barely used, home to the local sailing club, fully shaded under bushes and trees — though not the prettiest beach.
The rocky shoreline makes for plenty of snorkelling spots. A small marina on site rents out canoes, kayaks and SUPs — including trips around the offshore islet, to the Grotta dello Sbruffo (also called Grotta Azzurra), and to La porta degli angeli ("Angel's Gate"), a large rock cleft you can swim through. We haven't logged the exact location of the grotto or the gate yet.
Food and drink
Bar/restaurant of "Camping Enfola"
Right on the left-hand beach. Good, cheap cold drinks. (Camping Enfola, CIN IT049014B1CIVFMFEA)
Same price level as Bagnaia — the cheapest beach we've logged so far. We're not aware of any option beyond the campsite bar here.
Our verdict
[verdict to follow]
… you're after fine sand. Enfola is shingle, fairly stony on both beaches.
… you want to plan the drive down to the metre beforehand. We only have the car park logged so far, not the beach's exact coordinates — check it yourself first.
… you want a lively beach. Enfola is deliberately out of the way.
